Srsly people, this is a pretty big deal. Last night, for the first time in almost 100 years, in the ninth Congressional district of New York, a republican was elected, 54-46. Yes, that really is Brooklyn and Queens!

As Calvin points out, this is what we would call the harbinger for 2012. As long as the economy remains at a depressing standstill with unemployment near the double digits, Barack Obama doesn't have a prayer.

That being said, Rick Perry is a no. Like a really really big no. That's right folks, not a fan. So, at this point, I will be supporting the Mormon from Massachusetts...and you should too.

So, I guess you could say I've been MIA lately. The truth is, I just wrapped up the best summer since undergrad, and whelp, just neglected my little ole blog.

So, that being said, I will try to start the blogging again. Most of my classes this semester are painfully boring, so I'm sure I can find some time to update all of you on the life and times of KSS.

So, since June, here's what you missed.

Got a job at a law firm as a clerk. I have my own office. They have unlimited Diet Coke and Starbucks coffee. That's pretty much what sold me. Oh, and about two weeks into it, I came into work and there was an envelope on my desk with the words "Pay to the Order Of." Needless to say, I was really confused. Haven't seen one of those in a while.
Shortly after I got the fantastic news that someone was going to PAY me to learn, I found out I didn't get on the Law Review.
Took a loooot of vacays. Visited Kathy in Minneapolis, went to DC twice to visit Joe and meet a portly man in a black robe that works in a big marble building, and went to the Ozarks for a weekend of bachelorette debauchery. I left my dignity somewhere between party cove and Dog Days. Basically, I managed to consume an obscene amount of alcohol in three short months, and, well, it was awesome,
Got a fantastic tan. No really, don't judge, I pride myself on this. Everyone looks better tan. Oh, and blonde. See #5.
Chopped off all of my hair. I'm also back to blonde. Yes, I am definitely having more fun. The haircut looks a lil something like that Dianna Agron masterpiece above.
Met a boy in DC, who doesn't live in DC. Not gonna lie, was kinda smitten...as much as one can smit in a long distance fling. But don't worry, he turned out to be a wee bit of a sociopath. Read: lies about his mother having Cancer. Yes, really. I should've known when he said douchey things like "you're way better than Carrie Underwood." Good gad, I know how to pick 'em.
Bought a macbook. Still don't really know how to use it, but it's way better than my old Dell.
Signed up for the North Face Marathon. Didn't train a lick. Hence, didn't run a lick. Whoopsies. I'll run that fifth marathon one of these days.
Realized I don't really think I want to put people in jail anymore. I think I just want to sue people and make a shit-ton of money to pay-off the mountain of debt I've acquired over the last two years (see #7). See, told you law school would steal my soul.

Welp, it looks like the overreaching (pun intended) and absurd TSA has struck again.

Over the weekend, a group of (portly, I'm assuming, they all are) power hungry idiotic TSA agents took it upon themselves to remove a 95-year old, wheel chair bound, cancer stricken woman's adult diaper. You know, because it was "stiff."

Here comes the TMI part: my grandmother has recently traded in her Jockeys for Depends, I've got a niece and nephew in diapers (and pull ups),...and lemme tell you, ...urine hardens. Proms.

A few weekends ago, I went on an airplane for the first time in a year (I know, woe is me the poor law student) and I was subjected to the patdown on one leg of the trip, and the body scanner on the other. Woof. Talk about feeling like a criminal/Venezuelan drug lord.

See, this is where Congressman turned presidential hopeful Ron Paul and I agree: the TSA has got to go. Yes, I understand the TSA is here to protect us...but since the agency has invaded airports across the country...attempted terrorists have made it past their invasive measures. Ahem, underwear bomber?

I hope the ACLU and several others jump all over this to help pay for this poor woman's chemo sessions. Surely there's a 1983 action to be had, right?

Anthony Weiner keeps digging himself deeper into the hole. (Pun intended). Just when I thought the lies couldn't get any worse, his (very accomplished it seems) wife has a little Weiner on the way. (Also, intended). The unborn child explains why Huma didn't pull a Jenny Sanford. Disappointing.

A few tips for Weiner: (this time, pun unintended)

1. Knock it off with the press conferences. Srsly. They're only hurting you.

2. In reference to #1, fire your PR people.

3. Brett Favre got in troubs for this. Learn from other people's mistakes.

4. Resign. Not because I think you need to, but because I'm sick of seeing shots of your crotch.

5. To add on to #4, not interested in seeing your chest either.

I wanted to take time from this rainy day to say goodbye to everyone. You know, since the world is ending tomorrow.

Instead of being melancholy while arbitrarily reflecting on my incomplete (and lets be honest, non-existent) bucket list, I am going to outline my impressive accomplishments throughout my relatively short time on earth.

When I was in the fourth grade, I did 12 pull-ups in gym class, and I am convinced that the kid who beat me cheated.
I have quit smoking six times...and haven't pounded a heater in eight months (the record has been 9 months) wish me luck.
I have finished four marathons. Check out #2. This is extra impressive now, eh?
Nearly 1,000 people visit this website a day. Can you hear that? I just high-fived myself.
This is my 932nd post.
I almost died in the wave pool at Oceans of Fun when I was 9 years old. Aren't you glad I didn't?
I have been driving for more than 10 years...and have successfully amended 16 speeding tickets.
I have watched every episode of Sex and the City. Five times. Thank you, HBO...and TBS..and E!
After I gave up cigarettes, I gave up my second favorite thing...Sugar Free Red Bull and vodkas. We had a very Titanic-esque parting in September of last year.

I met him in the summer of 2009...I declined a picture with him, mainly because a room full of my peers were ohhing and ahhing over the youngest, best pack of abs in Congress. We chatted briefly and I can't remember if he called me "sassy" or "feisty." Let's be honest, those two snarky adjectives basically mean the same thing.

Now, I don't necessarily believe the adage that those over-30-single politicos are closeted, but in the case of the Schocker--I suppose it's possible.

Yesterday, as I was sifting through the parol evidence rule, I got a phone call that I had a delivery at my apartment.

Kathy sent me flowers for being done with the first year. Gad love that politico power suit.

Her card said she was proud of me for being 1/3 done. 1/3?! More like 41%, damnit.

Also, today is Joe's big 2-5. After my final, can't wait to celebrate Cinco de Joe-o with Joe, Mike, Butterfingers, Jader and Brian!

Update: Best Patio Reclaimed

There are a few updates from Monday's post about the best patio in SoJoCo.

1. H/T to Calvin, we now know that Paddy O'Quigley's is moving into Blue Moose's old location at 151st and Nall.

Hopefully they knock out the neighboring nail salon and make this a legit alternative to the lack luster sports bar, Coach's, down the street.

2. Apparently, according to my favorite golf aficionado Joe, this patio sits on the 14th, not the 13th hole. Joe and an anonymous commenter seem to be on the same page. In my defense, I've never golfed Iron Horse, because, let's be honest, the course has been under construction and/or closed for the majority of its existence.

Yoder Looking Out For Our Troops

A Department of Defense memo that's been circulating throughout the Pentagon and Congress states that in the event of a government shutdown (which is looming), members of the military will be without a paycheck.

Yes, really.

Apparently, since our government overspends, our troops are going to suffer. Makes sense. Oh, wait.

Freshman Congressman and appropriations committee member Kevin Yoder has written a letter to Reid, proposing legislation that would insulate our men and women of service from a possible government shut down.

I am so grateful that 78% of the voters moseyed on down to the polls to make sure good ole Barney Fife and his crew can keep KC Proper safe. Because, we all know that's what would've happened had we repealed the E-Tax. Without the E-Tax, we would lose the police, the fire department, the city would fall apart, everybody would be rapin' and killin'...we'd all get chlamydia...and die.

Any time I can parallel politics to Mean Girls...I do.

I remember when I was subjected to taxation without representation. I lived in Kansas (shocker) and worked in a recruiting sweatshop in KCMO. I was reminded every. single. morning. when I hit about a dozen potholes while using 1/8 of a mile of 635. General fund, eh?

So apparently, The Blue Moose's most southern location has closed.

I got the email about three minutes after Calvin forwarded me his copy.

I wonder wha happen? Every time I go there (I guess, went there, past tense) the place is (was) packed (mostly because it's the teeniest area ever). They had decent breakfast, and, unlike most K.C. Hopps restaurants, the wait staff wasn't rude (hint, Prairie Village location).

A little bit of notice would've been nice...as opposed to an afterthought email.

Regardless, hopefully a fun new place will go in there and they can make good use of one of the best patios in SoJoCo...just off of Iron Horse's 13th.

Run Sinic, Run

So, 10 hours both ways without WiFi gave me a lot of things to think about.

Most of my revelations are complex and personal, so I won't be sharing, but I can divulge at least one.

I'm going to run another marathon.

There are several reasons I came to this conclusion:

1. The gal who sat across from me on the MegaBus had a BMI bigger than my bank account balance and, well, that scares me.

2. I've run four marathons and five seems like a nice, round number.

3. I need something besides drinking and law school to keep me from going insane.

4. The nice weather maybe sorta definitely helped.

5. White skinny jeans.

It's the little things.

First, since Kathy is leaving me to save the world (whilst working out of Minnesota) I decided I should start with a half marathon in Minneapolis. Nothing says "skinny jeans" like hot dogs, fireworks and half marathons...amiright?

Then, the full marathon will be happening sometime in late summer...probably first couple weeks in September. My good friend and running buddy will be venturing somewhere outside of KC (hint, no Olathe marathon for this girl) for the big 26.2.

I really wanted to do the Marine Corps Marathon in D.C. (and get to see Jamie and Joe) but that thing sold out in 28 hours back in February.

Anyone have any good suggestions?

I've already completed:

Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco
Rock 'n Roll Matahon in San Diego
Spirit of St. Louis Marathon in, well, St. Louis
Chicago Marathon (the year after everyone died of heat exhaustion, but it was still very very warm)

I want to make a fun girl's trip out of it, but we need to be reasonable too.

Fighting Illini Gots a Badditude

That's right. Illinois fans are douche bags, and collectively, have a badditude (bad attitude).

In case you missed it, I'm in Chicago this weekend for my dear friend's bachelorette party.

I went to Kincade's for a beer, then was at Lottie's for the first half before meandering on to a Chi town bar (See generally Blackhawks hang out there)...where there were tons of Illinois fans (yes, really, they exist).

What douche. bags.

Of course I'm rocking my KU gear, including the cutest red and blue pashmina Jennie bought me for the birthday, and people were glaring at me.

Let me tell you folks, glaring at me after several Miller Lites (puke, you can't find an effing Budweiser in this town to save your life) and a couple shots of Patron, is a bad idea.

So, I had some words with an Illini fan with an over abundance of nose hair. He hates KU--you know, because of Bill Self. I let him know that I felt sorry for him that he's holding a six-year grudge, and that I could give a shit about UNC and am actually happy that Roy left KU (truth).

I suggested that him and his friends shouldn't be so mean to a Jayhawk.

I then calmly told him that as an undergrad at KU, I proudly rooted for Illinois in the national championship game. I had photographic proof on my blackberry:

That shut him up.

Oh, and he clearly doesn't know jack about basketball, because, let's not forget, the aforementioned cheering of the Fighting Illini was against...you guessed it, North Carolina.

Welp, I made it to Chicago last night, just 20 minutes behind schedule, via MegaBus.

Honestly, it wasn't that bad--at all. The ride from KC to STL (with a short little stop in the shithole we call Columbia) was great, and then once more people boarded in STL, it got crowded.

I was so worried that I wouldn't be able to use my computer because, as we all know, Pink is a piece of shit and has a horrible battery life. I was relieved when I saw that there were outlets on the bus!

However, the free WiFi was bullshit. I had a full signal, and was connected to the WiFi, but for whatever reason, could NOT get on the internet. It was so frustrating.

So, I listened to Adele's 21 on repeat:

and nursed my hangover with intermittent napping mixed with tweeting.

The last two hours of the 10 hour trip were brutal--I convinced myself that I was developing a blood clot in my leg...thank goodness that was all in my head.

Oh, and someone had MegaGas, and I thought I was going to vom.

But, I'm here, in Chi and I feel like a kid on Christmas waiting to open my presents--all I want for Christmas is a Morri (Morris, plural) domination. ROCK CHALK!

Sinic v. Dell, Inc.

So I've been a bit absent from the blog lately.

I've been writing my note for the Law Review/Law Journal writing competition.

Thrilling, let me tell ya.

Last night, while editing what I realized was probably the worst thing I've ever written, my piece of shit computer, manufactured by the shysters known as Dell, turned off.

Without warning.

Without auto-saving.

With a full battery.

Poor little Pink (she has a name, and yes, Pink's a "she" because Pink, is a little bitch) overheated and just went kaput.

No big deal really; I just lost over an hour of edits.

If I was one more glass of malbec in, I would've thrown Pink against the plaster covered walls in my teeny apartment.

I nearly RAGED.

To cure my ghetto ridden technical difficulties, I improvised, and ghetto rigged Pink so she could cool down a bit (and I could get back to editing my undergrad-esque paper).

Since I'm not really a "baker," I might as well put my cooling rack to good use:

Pink pulled through, and I was able to re-do my edits, with the help of more wine (like, lots more).

So, I've been a bit lax on keeping up with the pup's grooming.

You see, when I was peddling paper at Dunder Mifflin, I could drop $40 on a whim to have my precious little Mimi primped by the pros.

The slums of Grad PLUS loans don't allow that.

I know, I know. But, in my defense, Mimi is not a big fan of being brushed. She's half poodle so, she doesn't shed, and she has pretty curly hair that doesn't normally warrant a ton of brushing...well, until she starts getting mats in her hair.

Those of you who don't like dogs (that's really effing weird, but, your choice I suppose) should prolly peruse one of the interesting blogs on my blogroll at this point because you're going to prolly be a) annoyed or b) sicked out.

Anywho, my mom has a pair of electric clippers (you know, the kind they use when you get a shitty $6 haircut at SportsClips) that she uses to shave her dog, and, normally she takes care of Mimi while she's at it. I asked my mom to bring me the clippers to Bebe's birthday party last Saturday night so that I could give Mimi a little shave (ok, a big shave, her whole coat was matted to hell) back in Lawrence when I had the time.

To my surprise, my mom bought me my own set (or is it a pair, or is it singular?) of clippers. My very own set! (it's the little things)

Yeah, screw you, overpriced puppy boutique.

So, I locked Mimi and I in the bathroom and went to town on my nappy headed pooch.

I used the 1/8" guard and, to be honest, it was just taking too damn long, and I don't have the patience to spend 3+ hours attending to Mimi's weave. Soooo, I took the guard off.

Whoops.

Before I know it...my perfect little pup has bald spots...

like, um, everywhere.

I also kinda sorta maybe definitely botched up her little face:

Just as I was almost finished, I heard the worst little sound:

It's no surprise that I pretty much hate tattoos.

Perhaps it's that my mother constantly ingrained in us that tattoos are a "permanent reminder of a temporary insanity."

Honestly, it's more of the very certain fact that there's not one part of my body that I like enough to put a permanent, stretchable, fadable splotch of ink.

God Loves The First Amendment

Well, it looks like T he Supreme Court of the United States has ruled in favor of Fred Phelps and the Westboro thugs.

Well, kind of.

They ruled in favor of the First Amendment, and, our Nazi neighbors to the west were the vehicle in which eight Supreme Court Justices reached their decision. That's right. 8-1.

Sammy Alito dissented.

I've mentioned these assholes in the past. Before I went to law school, right after I started law school, and most recently, after a panel held here at KU regarding the Snyder v. Phelps case.

What's really interesting, is that our assignment for legal writing this semester is a very similar type of fact pattern; a douche bag, his irrational ideas and his First Amendment rights. So, just last week, when I was pulling my hair our writing a motion in support of a douche like Phelps, I read through several cases upholding repulsive political speech.

What's Chief Justice Marshall's famous quote written on the walls of the United State Supreme Court house?

"It is a Constitution we are expounding."

I get it. I respect it. I just don't like that my hopes of bankrupting the Phelps will never come to fruition. I also wanted my favorite professor to prevail.

But, again, I get it.

As Calvin pointed out this morning; a ruling in favor of the Snyder family would result in a slippery slope where maybe, just maybe, people could bring an IIED claim against my blog. It would be a stretch, but I suppose it is possible, and welp, I don't have a bagillion dollars.

MegaBus to Chicago?

So my good friend is getting married in Chicago in May, right smack dab in the middle of finals week.

Needless to say, I won't be able to go.

So, her bachelorette party in Chicago just happens to fall during my bring break. Um, yes please.

Small, teeny lil problem: flights are $320 a pop. Yoowza. Remember folks, I live on student loans. $320 is basically half of a month's rent. Naaaaaat gonna happen.

I would go out there for an entire week, and leave on a Monday and come back on a Tuesday or something if I could, but you see, most of my friends, oh wait, all of them, work, and I would be putzing around a Lincoln Park apartment by my lonesome.

No thanks.

So, Elaine suggested Amtrak, and Butterfingers suggested the MegaBus.

These are definitely cheaper options, but it also takes a friggin day to get there. Although, this would be a fantastic time to get outlining and other studying under way...but ehhh, I just dunno. What if I get stuck next to a smelly kid? I have a very sensitive sniffer.

Has anyone been on one of these? I think my parents took us to St. Louis via Amtrak when I was just a little tyke, but I can't be certain.

Suggestions? Thoughts? Comments?

I woke up this morning to discover that KU had frozen over, and school was canceled. I couldn't fall back asleep, so I decided I would head to good ole Green Hall to gather a few books from my locker (yes, we have lockers) so I could make today productive.

A quick stop at the liquor store for some wine wouldn't hurt either.

As soon as I got out of bed, by whole body hurt and I was reminded of yesterday's spill, , and decided that copious amounts of alcohol were in store for today...and a liquor store run was imperative. Srsly. Screw the books.

So I decided to scrape my car (she got BroIced) and head out before Lawrence becomes Blizzard of Oz. After about three minutes of scraping and a dozen slips, I threw in the towel and headed back inside.

No booze.

No books.

Fack.

Then, my friend with a 4-wheel drive car called to tell me that he was going to the liquor store and wanted my order.

Well, miracle of miracles, look what just appeared at my apartment:

Since my fall this morning, I've taken more than my fair share of ibuprofen. When I got home from class, I found an expired bottle (because that's safe) of pain killers from my upper endoscopy. Thank goodness for the reliability of Google, and a search that went something like "what pill is inscribed m357," I was able to locate two vicodin. I popped two of those bad boys around 3:30, and four hours later...I still think I'm bleeding internally.

So, I just cracked a beer.

Speaking of cracking...I really need class to be canceled tomorrow--especially since I haven't cracked a book since I've been home.

As I was watching the news, the anchor said that the City of Lawrence needs all of the KU students to move their cars for the plows. Now that's funny.

Lawrence owns plows? Who knew.

So, I bit it this morning walking out of my apartment building. Yes, really.

It wasn't just a slip and you catch yourself type of fall. I had my coffee cup in one hand and my lunch bag in the other. Like most people, I only have two hands, and therefore I couldn't catch myself when I fell.

I should also mention my backpack weighs about 40 lbs (not exaggerating), so when my feet slipped from under me, I was taken down backwards. I was able to fall on my side, five and half feet to the untreated sidewalk.

It hurt. Really. Really bad.

It's ok, I don't really need all of my ribs intact anyway.

It's quite possible I'm internally bleeding.

Faith in KU Students: Restored

So after nursing a significant hangover for the majority of my Saturday, (after a fantastically drunken/fun night with Mike, Joe, Butterfingers and Brian) I decided to do something productive yesterday.

Backing up, let's review Friday night. Both Mike and Joe brought me a bottle of wine after seeing the tragedy from Thursday night. Mike also brought 12 cervezas to pair with my chicken enchiladas (which were decent). All of the booze is gone AND we downed a few pitchers at the local shuffleboard watering hole (where I dominated, btw), AND Butterfingers and Brian drank this gad awful chardonnay I've been trying to get out of my apartment.

Anywho. Brian and I headed to the rec center after the heartbreaking event that transpired at Allen Fieldhouse. I realized after I picked Brian up that I LOST MY KINDLE.

I know. Tragic.

Brian reassured me that 1) there are good people out there and 2) people are more apt to return a book reader than, say, an ipod.

Well, ladies and gentleman. I must say I was pleasantly surprised.

My kindle was waiting for me at the lost and found.

Apparently the manager of the rec center remembered seeing me with it and knew that I had misplaced it.

So, my faith in the snot-nosed undergrads at KU has been restored.

Hallelujah.

Pence for Prez?

So, word on the street is that some GOP operatives are urging Mike Pence to consider a presidential bid.

This comes as no surprise to me.

I heard Mike speak at a convention almost two years ago in Indiana. Based on the pretty penny he spent on his multimedia keynote speech, his motivation for higher office was more pungent than the hoosiers lurking in the Indy clubs.

I'm on the fence about this guy.

Two years ago...I liked him. To be exact, I said I hearted him.

However, in the heat of the Moran/Tiahrt race; I reneged my position.

I know, I'm a flip flopper.

The gist of the Politico article is this: Mike Pence is the right choice because he hasn't royally effed anything up...yet.

Give Mikey a few minutes in front of Katie Couric or allow him to deliver the GOP response to the State of the Union and sure enough, he'll eff it up. It's inevitable right?

Further, this quote seemed to grab my attention:
“I don’t know of anybody else [in the field] who stood up to Karl Rove,” said Benko, touting Pence’s opposition to No Child Left Behind, the costly prescription drug benefit and TARP. “He has fought for fiscal restraint harder than anybody I know. I believe that will resonate with the tea party.”

Ralph Benko may be a little off on this--there's a large handful of fiscally conservative members of Congress who strayed from the establishment of big government spending and defunct social programs.

Here's the deal. The Republican party needs to get with the program and begin to appeal to those more right of center than right-wing. Yes, may I dare say it; moderates.

My pick today would be John Thune, (which, may or may not be fueled by a large crush on the tall drink of water from South Dakota) but I don't think he's ready. 2016 will be his year. That being said, Romney's the guy for now.

To avoid the same criticisms as GOP front runners before him, Pence should strongly consider the gubernatorial route before looking to Super Tuesday. That being said, depending on how things shake down, if it's between Miz Blood Libel and Pence, I think everyone knows where I would fall.

Meth, DUIs and Manslaughter, Oh My!

First, I have to say I don't know why I haven't blogged over the last few days. I seriously have absolutely nothing to do, and the most productive thing I do each day is go to Lifetime, SoJoCo's latest hot spot. Which, I must say, enduring the hard bodied mommies and daddies for an hour and a half each day is necessary considering I stepped foot in the rec center TWICE between Turkey Day and finals. Woof.

However, a few days ago, I traveled to a nearby county to shadow the County Attorney for the day.

Oh mah gad did I love it. Finally! A light at the end of this hellacious tunnel they call law school.

I am not even entirely sure if I want to pursue the criminal law route, but just being in the courtroom, watching the County Attorney put bad people in jail was awesome. I know that comes as a shocker to you all...my heart doesn't bleed. Not one drop.

I should also preface that "bad people" is a bit of an understatement. You really wouldn't believe the terrible things people do to each other in this county...or any county for that matter. My naive ass was stunned at the exceptional amount of "bad people" who don't grace the cover of the daily tribune.

They say you can't judge a person on appearances. However, I must say, 95% of the defendants had that hardened, no-soul look to them...that they fit the stereotype of society's "undesirables."

And talk about disrespect for the system! One mister swaggered into the courtroom wearing a filthy dirty t-shirt and pajama bottoms.

You can't make this shit up.

Don't get me wrong, there was a generous amount of methamphetamine, marijuana and DUI charges. Not that these crimes are excusable by any means, but usually these folks just made a few bad decisions...or maybe lack good judgment.

Granted, it's nothing like Law and Order, it was dramatic in every sense.

I know life as a prosecutor is not exactly lucrative, but I can't wait to go back.

Sinic's Top 10 in 2010

Well, as cliched as it is, (and the fact that I am dying of boredom), I have decided to reflect on 2010.

Let's be honest, 2010 was a pretty big year of change for me, and although I only posted 342 times this year (a stark contrast to 2009's 482), I got into law school, completed 23 hours of law school, turned brunette, welcomed my first nephew into the world and managed to piss off every republican in Kansas that didn't vote for Jerry Moran.

In true end of the year form, I give you my Top 10 posts/moments of 2010 (in no particular order):

1. Deciding to move back to Lawrence. Oh, and go BACK to school after a considerable chunk of time.

2. One of my many dating failures.

3. Catching a chicken mascot BITE IT in the snow....while dancing.

4. Pissing off the gays in Kansas City in one, short restaurant review.

5. An uncomfortable experience in the locker room which gives me good reason to maybe switch sides? Kidding.

6. Sinic vs Watkins.

7. They love me, they really love me.

8. Realizing my dog has a drinking problem.

Yes, Christine "I handed Delaware to the Dems on a silver platter" O'Donnell is under federal investigation for allegedly using campaign funds for personal use.

It's almost a mixture of John McCain and Adam Taff. See, like Taff, O'Donnell has misappropriated (can we call it that?) funds for personal use. Ahem, Lake Quivera anyone? Also, like McCain, it appears O'Donnell's coveted staffers have followed suit and thrown her under the tea-party tour bus.

The latest article published by The Week hints to the investigation reeking of political motivation.

Um, duh.

Sure, she lost, and I don't think anyone in the teeny state of Delaware actually believes she is a threat to the GOP or Democratic fronts in the future; she pissed people off. The only spell Christine O'Donnell has cast on GOP politics is disgust and annoyance.

It will be interesting to see how it pans out. Unfortunately, like her bff Sarah, Christy isn't going away any time soon.

I can't wait until I get my first "Christine Defense Fund" e-mail, begging for donations.

Textbooks for Christmas?!?!

So, I heard about this little gem of a video from my family on Christmas. The YouTube sensation came up in conversation after my Dad apologized to me for not having much for me to unwrap. Why? Because I asked for textbooks for Christmas...and they were being shipped to me.

Yes, really, I asked for textbooks. I would've also asked for "book books" (the name for books that ARE NOT for law school purposes), but, as you all may or may not remember, I have a Kindle.

Anyway, Joe sent me this video, and it's hilarious.

Thank goodness my perfect little niece took after her Aunt Sinic and loves books.

So I woke up this morning and realized it was Christmas Eve eve. For those of you who have read my blog may remember...Christmas Eve eve last year, was when I ran my car into a tree.

Remember that....Sinic go boom? Bleh, I do, and now I have a car payment (which I pay with my student loan money).

Although, I must say, I love my car and all of the frivolous gadgets I had to have...like a heated steering wheel.

Furthermore, I realized I totally missed my two-year blogiversary (or blogoversary?) a couple weeks back.

I'm Back

So, it's been just about a month since I've blogged. My bad. I've been a little busy trying not to flunk out of law school, so, that's my excuse.

My last final was Friday and thankfully that was the final I felt the best about. Last Monday was my Civil Procedure final, which was followed up with a series of teary-induced dry heaves...and I figured it could really only get better from there...and it did.

So, after my final on Friday, I went out for Jennie's birthday and have basically been a lazy piece of shit ever since. Today, Mindy and I meandered to the $4 matinee of Love and Other Drugs. Besides seeing Jake Gyllenhaal naked.....FAIL. Honestly, it was about two hours too long and full of cliched nuances. Fuh..ail.

Not only was it a failure, but as I was checking my blackberry, I feel a hard and forceful thump on my right shoulder. That's right, some 65 year old douche bag felt it was necessary to assault me (criminal assault, not the tort, as Joe likes to correct me) and reprimand me to put my phone away.

I was speechless.

I suppose it was somewhat rude to be on my phone, but honestly, I don't even know how he saw me...I was looking at it; wasn't talking, wasn't typing. Grandpa, please.

I am fairly certain that dirty old man probably heard the movie was a nude-fest and was pissed that the glow of my phone distracted him from his $4 dream. Ugh.

Now what am I going to do with the other 30 days until I have to go back to Green Hall?

So, today I am officially in my late 20s. Yes, folks, it's my birthday.

Joe is just the apple of my eye, that little sweetheart asked me yesterday, "what are you, 40 now?"

Then, to add insult to injury, he sends me this card this morning:

Awww. Just. A. Doll.

Besides having four hours of class today, my birthday week has been pretty good thus far. Kathy, Mike and Joe took me to dinner last night, followed up by a couple bloody marys at my favorite Lawrence dive.

Tonight, Mexican food and 80s movies (Think Girls Just Want to Have Fun) with Jader and Butterfingers.

Tomorrow, Mindy, the Jenny(ie)s and the rest of the gaggle are taking me to my favorite pizza joint.

THEN, Wednesday, Joe, our other law school friend (hint, starts with a "J") and I are studying all day and then heading to a plaaahza dinner.

THEN it's Thanksgiving with Bebe #1 and Bebe #2 (He was born 11/8, btw) and my family,

THEN it's Calvin and I's birthday celebration (his is tomorrow) on Frideee,

THEN I am celebrating my birthday with my family on Saturday.

Being a turkey baby, these things get strung out over a week...

The evening festivities make the all-day-long finals study sessions much more bearable.

I realized today that I haven't blogged in quite some time.

My bad.

I've been pretty busy catching up on my DVR, hitting up happy hours and shopping for the perfect fair of black leather riding boots.

Oh, wait.

Honestly, I've been working on the dreaded 1L writing assignment: The Open Memo. No, not an open ended letter basically reading someone the riot act. No, my friends. The open memo is the 1L legal writing assignment which comprises 85% of your grade in that class. You're given a legal issue and are to research constitutions, statutes, rules, case law and the like to write an office memorandum to a fictional "partner."

In a nutshell: it sucks.

Anywho, it's due today and thankfully, it's finally done. Considering I have law school neurosis, my memo (which we've had about a month to work on) was completed on Monday night.

Or so I thought. As I was proof reading for conciseness, grammar, (making sure I didn't include any "srsly" or "doy" words) I realized: I misread a fact from a case and based half of my argument on false information.

Of course I'm grateful that I caught my mistake, but, good lord, this little 1,200 word was a bitch.

So, my fellow memoers and I are heading to a local watering hole for burgers and beer. Then, once Joe wakes up from his Harry Potter slumber (yes, really), he'll be buying me celebratory drinks, while I continuously chant "Free Selby" from yet another local watering hole.

Unfortunately, tomorrow starts the 2 week countdown to finals.

FACK.

Oh how I love Election Day!

Joe and I will be feasting on pizza and cheap beer whilst flipping between FOX, CNN, CNBC and MSNBC.

PS: Have you heard about all the drama with Andrew Breitbart and ABC News? Like I've said numerous times before, I don't have cable, and ABC news is medium of choice.

I may be re-thinking that...although I will never give up GMA. Ever.

My prediction for the Senate? 52-48 (yes, this includes California Carly)..I'm pulling for her.

As for the House? I'm not sure...but I am a bit worried.
